Hate Crime

Coalition Against Learning Disability Hate Crime (CALDHC)
CALDHC is made up of Voluntary Sector organisations in Devon and Cornwall working with support from members of the statutory sector to address hostility, abuse, cruelty and hate crime against people with a learning disability. CALDHC demonstrates partnership working and comprises members of learning disability self-advocacy groups, for example, Devon People First, charities, for example, Exeter Mencap, and Devon & Cornwall Police, and NHS.

Congratulations!
Grateful thanks go to Devon & Cornwall Police for funding training for 12 adults with a learning disability to complete the City & Guilds 7300 course in Training Skills. Congratulations to the twelve, who by December 2012, have successfully completed and passed this course.  They are the new Disability Anti-Hate Crime Ambassadors.  Exeter Mencap is delighted to have been involved in mentoring some of these adults through their training.  Some of them are already delivering training sessions to the Police and there are many more opportunities to deliver training waiting to be taken up.

THANK YOU  Lloyds TSB
Exeter Mencap is delighted to have secured generous funding from Lloyds TSB, which in addition to some of our own funds, has enabled us to employ a part time Co-ordinator/Support worker to move forward the anti-hate crime work.
