Getting
it Right from the Start
We are very pleased to be involved with this excellent
project which is funded and organised by Mencap. The aims of the project are:
- To make sure that people with a learning disability find it easier to know about and use primary healthcare services.
- To help people with a learning disability have a better experience when they use primary healthcare services.
- To share information across England so that all primary health care services plan properly for people with a learning disability.
Exeter is one of the 4 pilot areas in the country
participating in this project. We are
currently mentoring a young man who is one of the Health Champions working in 2
surgeries in Exeter. In the next few weeks these Health Champions will be
delivering training to the various GP surgeries in and around Exeter and
mid-Devon.
