Exeter and District Mencap Society

The Society is a Registered Charity affiliated to Royal Mencap. The aim of our society is to support families in Exeter and district who have a child or adult with a learning disability. We continue to campaign to improve services and raise awareness of the needs of local people with a learning disability.

The Committee meets bi-monthly, except August and actively supports:
  1. The Tuesday Club A weekly club for people with a learning disability over 16 years of age. Every Tuesday at the Gateway Centre (behind the Mount Pleasant Health Centre, Mount Pleasant Road), 7pm-9pm  The Tuesday Club Disco is held on the first Friday of every month. 7pm - 10pm at the Kings Arms public house, Cowick Street, Exeter.
  2. The Horizon Club Open from 6.30 - 9pm every Wednesday during term time and are based at Exeter College. They run a different activity each week and a range of trips throughout the year. Follow them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Horizonclubexeter?pnref=story
  3. Exeter Gateway Centre This provides activities and facilities for adults with a range of learning disabilities. Meet Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays from 10am – 3pm.
  4. The Play Park Inclusive play park situated in the King George V playing Fields off Topsham Road, Exeter. The majority of the equipment is wheelchair accessible and is large enough for adults to use.
